Mateusz Pęk

Urodzony w 1978 roku w Lęborku. Studiował w Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Gdańsku oraz w Instytucie Sztuk Wizualnych w Orleanie, a dyplom uzyskał w 2002 roku w Pracowni Intermedialnej prof. Witosława Czerwonki. W 2019 roku otrzymał stopień doktora sztuki pod opieką prof. Jarosława Baucia. Jest adiunktem ASP w Gdańsku, od 2016 roku opiekuje się kołem naukowym Wydziału Malarstwa. Tworzy instalacje, obiekty oraz grafikę projektową. W praktyce artystycznej wykorzystuje pojęcia recyklingu i upcyklingu jako narzędzia refleksji nad warunkami produkcji kulturowej, materialnością sztuki i sposobami jej wartościowania. Jego prace były prezentowane w Polsce i za granicą, między innymi w Chinach, Francji, Anglii, Niemczech i Grecji; znajdują się w kolekcjach NOMUS, Muzeum Narodowego w Gdańsku i Muzeum Blekinge w Karlskronie.

Born in 1978 in Lębork. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk and at the Institute of Visual Arts in Orléans, receiving his diploma in 2002 from the Intermedia Studio of Prof. Witosław Czerwonka. In 2019 he obtained a PhD in Fine Arts under Prof. Jarosław Bauć. He is an assistant professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk and since 2016 has supervised the Faculty of Painting student research group. His practice includes installations, objects and design-oriented graphics. He uses recycling and upcycling as tools for reflecting on cultural production, the materiality of art and systems of artistic value. His work has been presented in Poland and abroad, including in China, France, England, Germany and Greece, and is held in the collections of NOMUS, the National Museum in Gdańsk and the Blekinge Museum in Karlskrona.
